Susan Carroll | Director
In addition to being the Director of Woodinville Family Preschool, Susan Carroll teaches Toddler AM, 1-Day A, and 1-Day B. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Washington. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Loyola University, Chicago and her teaching certification from the University of Washington. Susan has taught children at both the preschool and elementary school levels, as well as working as a Parent Education Instructor. Susan and her husband, Derek, attended Woodinville Family Preschool for 12 years with their three children.
As an advocate of cooperative education, Susan has participated in the PACE program (Parents Active in Cooperative Education) in the Northshore School District. She has also worked with co-ops and Head Start Programs as a Parent Education Instructor in the Snohomish and Edmonds school districts. In her spare time, Susan enjoys reading, hiking, volunteering in her children’s classrooms, and supporting her children in their dance, music, and sports activities.
Jodi Spitalli | Parent Educator
Jodi Spitalli teaches the multi-day classes for 3-5 year olds. She holds a degree in Elementary Education with a focus on Developmentally Appropriate Early Childhood Education, Psychology and Art from St. Mary’s College at Notre Dame. Jodi attended WFP with her children, was previously on staff as the Outdoor Curriculum Specialist and is delighted to be back as Parent Educator!
She also has experience teaching kindergarten, where she created a strong parent volunteer program and hands-on curriculum. She is certified through IBREA (International Brain Education Association) and taught holistic yoga classes for adults and children, children’s art, has instructed teachers in curriculum development and did private tutoring.
Jodi has three adult children and lives on Orcas Island with her husband. They own and operate Eagle Ridge Guesthouse on the island. She also designs and creates custom silver and semiprecious gemstone jewelry in her island studio. In her spare time you will find her gardening, hiking, traveling, and enjoying Island Life!
Maggie Homer | Parent Educator
Maggie Homer teaches the Toddler PM (evening) class. She graduated from the University of Washington with an undergraduate degree in Spanish and International Studies. Maggie received her Master’s degree in Education. In addition to having worked with parents, she has experience in teaching early childhood, early childhood special education, kindergarten, and first grade. Maggie attended Woodinville Family Preschool as a child, returned as a parent, and is enjoying now being a staff member.
Maggie is interested in the effects of social media on parenting and the family dynamic. She and her husband, Paul, have one daughter. Maggie enjoys spending time with family, reading, journaling, bonfires year round, and any and all sports.
Christy Brady-Smith | Parent Educator
Christy teaches the Prenatal-Infant and Pre-Toddler classes. She earned her PhD in Developmental Psychology from Columbia University, where she worked on numerous studies related to parenting, family relationships, and child development. She is the founder of Nature Nurture Knowledge, an educational consulting firm designed to simplify the world of child development research and support parents in their path to helping their families thrive. She has been a parent educator and school consultant for the better part of the last decade. Christy is a certified Positive Discipline parent educator and Gottman Bringing Baby Home educator but is not tied to one particular philosophy as a fit for all parents. She draws from her breadth of knowledge to help each parent find a good fit for themselves as they work to raise happy, kind, creative, inquisitive children.
Christy lives in Redmond with her husband, three children, and chocolate lab. Her children, who range in age from 11 to 17, enjoy testing her knowledge of child development and parenting! She enjoys running, hiking, watching her children play soccer, reading, and being a lifelong learner.
Kelly Peterson | Outdoor Curriculum Specialist
Kelly Petersen grew up in the Pacific Northwest and is passionate about the outdoor environment. With her husband and two boys she enjoys hiking and exploring nature. Kelly also believes in physical fitness and is a CrossFit level 1 trainer. Kelly was a parent at Woodinville Family Preschool for 10 years and held jobs supporting both the indoor and outdoor curricula. Kelly has held professional positions where she provided leadership and supervised adults. We are thrilled to welcome her back as our Outdoor Curriculum Specialist.
